Couple killed in N. Caddo Parish fire identified

GILLIAM, LA (KSLA) -

The couple killed in a fire this morning in their northern Caddo Parish home early Monday afternoon has been identified.

According to the State Fire Marshal's Office, firefighters from Caddo Fire Districts 7 was called to the mobile home in the 5400 block of Community St. in Gilliam around 11:30 a.m. after neighbors reported the fire.

Firefighters arrived to find the 2-bedroom mobile home fully involved in flames.

After the fire was brought under control, firefighters found the bodies of 35-year-old Adonis Walker and his girlfriend, 32-year-old Hanna Hawkins in the master bedroom of the burned-out structure. The pair lived there with 2 children who were at school at the time of the blaze.

Investigators determined that the fire originated in a bedroom on the opposite end of the home from where the victims slept. Investigators have not yet identified the cause of the fire, but they say they suspect electricity supplied to the home by extension cords played a role. There also note that there were no working smoke alarms in use in the home.

The bodies were processed on the scene by investigators and released to the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office for autopsy.  State Fire Marshal investigators, along with Caddo Parish Sheriff's Deputies, continue to investigate the cause of this deadly fire.
