SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Krewe of Gemini XXV Grand Parade rolled in Shreveport under clear skies Saturday night, as thousands lined the route to catch throws and celebrate Mardi Gras.

KSLA was there for the inaugural Krewe of Gemini parade on February 24, 1990, one year after their were established, and we were there to broadcast their parades for several years after.

We reunited for 2014 as Gemini celebrates 25 years and we celebrate our 60th anniversary of broadcasting in the ArkLaTex.

"The joy of having fun, just relaxing, enjoying the time!" one parade goer answered when asked about their favorite part of the Mardi Gras Parade. Many started the day early, hours before the first float would arrive, some staked out their spots while others passed the time barbecuing. "Lot's of good spirit, family, friends, and beer, plenty of beer of course! Oh and gumbo!" said Gumbo To Geaux Restaurant Owner Kevin Aycock, who was with family and friends cooking up food near the parade route.

Of the thousands of parade attendees, many told KSLA News 12 they traveled hours to get to the parade, some from Dallas, Houston, and others from surrounding parishes.

The thousands of people lined up along the parade route saw 27 Gemini Floats along with 8 floats from visiting krewes. The floats were decorated in all kinds of colors and themes, including the Blues Brothers KSLA News 12 float.

With this years parade a wrap, the Krewe of Gemini will begin planning for next year, tomorrow.
