A Broadmoor home was heavily damaged by fire early Friday afternoon, but the lone tenant of the garage apartment that burned escaped without serious injury.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 200 block of Carrollton St. at 12:20 p.m. and arrived minutes later to find flames shooting through the roof.
At least 10 units battled the blaze, which was brought under control within 15 minutes.
The man who lived in the garage apartment was outside when firefighters arrived. He was treated at the scene for unspecified injuries and opted not to be taken to the hospital.
Assistant Fire Chief Fred Sanders says he was able to tell firefighters the fire might have started in the area of the water heater. The cause is under investigation. Copyright 2014 KSLA. All rights reserved.
