Police are warning residents about an officer impersonation phone scam surfacing in Scottsdale.
The callers are phoning residents claiming to be officers from Scottsdale police or the courts. They tell their victim they must pay a fine for a warrant, photo-radar ticket or other court matter.
The scammers ask their victim to purchase a "Green-dot" card or other financial tool to "pay the fine" and give them their credit card number or financial information.
The incident should be reported to the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000.
Officers said police or court officers never phone any resident asking for payment of any kind.

Documents show that Southaven officers went to the wrong house to serve a warrant on Monday, which resulted in the shooting death of a man who did not have any active warrants out for his arrest.
