SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

One person has died in a 2-alarm house fire on Market St. in Shreveport early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called around 12:30 a.m. to the home behind the 1910 Martini and Hookah Lounge in Highland, just south of Shreveport's Downtown District.  They arrived to find heavy flames consuming the structure.

A second alarm was called about 10 minutes later, after witnesses told firefighters they believed someone was inside.

The victim was found near the side patio doors of the home a short time later. He has not been identified, but SFD Assistant Chief Fred Sanders says he is a man in his 60s.

Sanders says the man's death becomes the first fire fatality in 2014.

Nearly 2 dozen units responded to the blaze, which fire officials say was brought under control by 1:07 a.m. There were no other injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
