Lockesburg man arrested in DeQueen church burglary

DEQUEEN, AR (KSLA) -

A suspect in a DeQueen, AR church burglary has been arrested. 

Edomnd Lewis, 43, of Lockesburg, AR, was charged with attempted arson and commercial burglary of the First Baptist Church at the 1500 block of West Collin Raye Dr., police said. 

The break-in back on February 20 was caught on surveillance video, showing a man force his way into the church.

Lewis, who police say has a lengthy criminal history, allegedly stole an unknown amount of money from the church, breaking windows and damaging the building's office area. He was seen looking into the church before the burglary, police said.

On Monday, police searched Lewis's house and found multiple bombs, which were later disposed of by Arkansas State Police Bomb Squad.They were unrelated to the church bombing.

Police also found items that cleared several cases in Sevier and Howard counties.
