Routine traffic stop in Bienville Parish nets two arrests, 62 pounds of pot

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A routine traffic stop in Bienville Parish landed two men in jail on drug charges.

Louisiana State Police stopped a driver in a 2014 Ford F-150 for a traffic violation on Interstate 20 eastbound near mile marker 59 west of Arcadia.

The driver, Corey Samuel, 30, of Houston, Texas, consented to a search of his truck.  Troopers found 62 pounds of marijuana with a street value of about $93,000.  A second passenger, Kerry Taylor, 42, of Houston, Texas, was also taken into custody.

Both men were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

Samuel and Taylor were booked into the Bienville Parish jail.

If convicted, each could face up to 30 years in prison and up to $150,000 in fines.
