GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Pet lovers in Greenville County got a chance to catch up with the dog who gained national attention after witnesses said she was dragged behind a truck last year.

Doctors at Upstate Veterinary Services said they did not know if the dog, Andra Grace, would survive when she was first brought to them last December. On Saturday, doctors said she was happy and healthy when Andra Grace's new owner brought the Boxer mix by the clinic on Woods Lake Road for a visit.

The dog's new owner, Lynn Dixon, said she and Andra Grace made a pit stop in the Upstate while on their way to Andra Grace's new forever home in Florida.

Andra Grace was treated at Upstate Veterinary Services and then sent to Special Needs Animal Rescue Rehabilitation (SNAAR) Northeast in New York to receive special treatment and rehabilitation for her injuries.

Dixon was able to adopt the dog from the New York group.

Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said Roger Owens, 53, was charged with felony animal abuse after the dragging incident and remains behind bars in the Greenville County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
