BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Police in Bossier say the woman caught on camera cashing a couple of counterfeit checks at a local business last month totaling nearly $16,000 has been arrested.

The transactions were caught on surveillance video at Pete's Grocery in the 1500 block of Barksdale Boulevard. Police say the woman, 38-year-old identified as Tami Lynn Asbil, cashed the both bogus checks at the same time and walked away with $15,845.

Agents with the Bossier Financial Crimes Task Force were looking for Asbil, whose last known address was in Abilene, Texas. Police believed she may have been temporarily residing in the Shreveport area.

On Friday, agents got word that Asbil had been taken into custody in Forest Hill, Texas, which is south of Fort Worth. Bossier City police say efforts to extradite Asbil to Bossier City are pending.

Asbil faces charges of monetary instrument abuse.
