TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Not even two weeks ago, ODOT closed two lanes of traffic on northbound I-75 between Collingwood and the I-475 split in Toledo, due to poor pavement conditions. Now, repairs are being made as sections of pavement are being grinded down and filled in with a fresh layer of asphalt.

Over the next few days, ODOT will be making pavement repairs along other sections of I-75 and I-475 in the area.

Because ODOT has a contractor making hot asphalt, that's allowing the city of Toledo to tap into that supply for some much needed pothole repairs.

"It was great the state called us. We worked together to get the plant open. It was their leadership and it allows us to use the hot mix. Even that this time of year is tough, but it's going to be a lot better than what we're been used to," said Dave Welch, Streets, Bridges and Harbor Commissioner for Toledo.

Welch says over the next few days, city crews will focus on problem spots, including along Douglas Road and Anthony Wayne Trail.

"A lot of these areas have pothole patches over pothole patches, it's real rough driving. We're going to try to get this ground down a little bit, get a nice hot mix over it, and roll it in," explained Welch.

Both the city and ODOT are asking drivers to be patient while repairs are made, aimed at making driving conditions a little smoother.
