IDABEL, OK (KSLA) -

The molestation trial of a once well-known ArkLaTex entertainer is now underway.

Thomas Bradley Porton faces 40 charges in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, including lewd acts, molestation and providing alcohol and drugs to children.

He was arrested in 2012 after numerous minors came forward, claiming he had taken advantage of them and gave them drugs, including ecstasy.

Porton, from Broken Bow, is accused of using his entertainment career as a way to get close to young victims.

Investigators also claim Porton gained access to minors by telling some parents he was child counselor.

A jury was seated Tuesday and the first witness took the stand Wednesday morning.  McCurtain County District Attorney Mark Matloff expects the trial to take two weeks.  He says the prosecution could call as many as 50 witnesses.

Porton also faces numerous drug charges. He once worked at a Broken Bow pharmacy. He's accused of removing and dispersing drugs without authorization.

That trial will be held at a later date.
