TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
A Tyler business is closing its doors after serving East Texas for more than 85 years.
Larry Hussey, president of Gulf State Lumber, told KLTV on Monday that the owners have decided to shut the doors because the economy has declined.
"Business has been slow the last few years, so this is a good time to call it quits," said Hussey.
Gulf State Lumber sells building material and specialty items to residential and commercial builders, as well as the general public. The owners will liquidate the inventory and sell the property.
Gulf State Lumber has nine employees.Copyright 2014 KLTV. All rights reserved.
