SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Six people including a police officer were treated for smoke inhalation after a small house fire in southeast Shreveport Monday morning.

Shreveport firefighters say just after 3 a.m. they responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Palisade Lane. When they arrived, smoke was pouring out of the home. They found the fire coming from the kitchen stove and the attic space above it. Two adults and three children were able to get out of the home but were all treated for smoke inhalation. A Shreveport police officer was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. He is in stable condition.

Firefighters say they did not have to use a water hose to put out the fire. They were able to get the fire under control in five minutes.  The home is being ventilated for smoke.

Fire officials are still investigating how the fire started.
