Texas senator John Cornyn made a stop in East Texas to discuss a proposed law aimed and stopping human trafficking.
The senator discussed his 'justice for victims of trafficking act', legislation that would compliment local efforts by increasing law enforcement resources and increasing penalties for child sex trafficking, child pornography, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking. He says a key part of stopping these problems is to follow the money trail.
"We need to use legislation like this to go after the money. What we need to do is go where the money is and that is the people who profit from this, and that's why this legislation would allow us to forfeit the assets of these organizations that engage in this," Cornyn says.
The senator later attended a political rally at Maude Cobb activity center. Republican strategist Karl Rove was a guest and Neal McCoy held a concert to help raise money for Cornyn's campaign.
