SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport man was rescued from a fire that heavily damaged a home in the Lakeside neighborhood early Saturday morning.

When fire crews were called to the home in the 2000 block of Looney street at 2:10 a.m., they found the front of one-story wood-framed home engulfed in flames. They had been told there might be someone inside, and began to search. They found a man laying on the floor near the back door. He was pulled from the home and rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for smoke inhalation.

The Shreveport Fire Department says the fire was brought under control by 2:26 a.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
