Woman in critical condition after icy E. Texas highway crash

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas woman remains hospitalized after a Tuesday crash involving a utility truck on icy roadways.

The crash happened around 6:05 p.m. on the 7600 block of U.S. Highway 271, north of Loop 323 in Tyler.

Tyler Police said the driver of a southbound Chevy Blazer lost control, due to ice on the roadway. The SUV slid into oncoming traffic and hit a northbound Oncor utility truck.

A 17-year-old passenger in the SUV was pinned and had to be removed by Tyler firefighters. At last check the unidentified woman was in critical condition at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

The Oncor truck slid off into the ditch with the driver's side heavily damaged.

The driver of both the Blazer and the utility truck were also transported to ETMC with minor injuries, according to Tyler Police.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
