SFD: North Shreveport home heavily damaged in house fire

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport fire detectives are investigating a house fire that heavily damaged a home Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out around 5:20 a.m. at a home in the 3800 block of Cornell Drive. Firefighters say the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Two adults and one child were able to escape the fire without injuries before firefighters got to the scene. The family was alerted by a smoke alarm in the home. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

Fire investigators say the home has heavy fire damage. Investigators say that a burner was in the "on" position on the stove in the kitchen and appears to be where the fire started.
