BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The former LSU Tigers quarterback from almost a decade ago, Ryan Perrilloux, is back in the news and back in south Louisiana trying to make it as the field general for the New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League.

Perrilloux will talk about his latest opportunity and some of the ones that have passed him by over his career during a special sports report.

He is roughly 25 pounds lighter now than his days with the Tigers, but bears the heavy weight of what's been a disappointing legacy. All of those topics, including that fateful day LSU head coach Les Miles tossed him from the team, will be touched upon in a special sit down with Perrilloux.

"Obviously, it shocked Coach Miles, too; he didn't want to have to do it," said Perrilloux. "But when he did it, it wasn't just like, ‘I'm getting rid of this kid. I don't want anything else to do with him.' It was like, ‘I really want to take interest in where he goes from here."

"I know it was tough for Coach Miles, but I feel like it was something that had to be done to set the standard of we're not going to tolerate no nonsense," said former LSU wide receiver Early Doucet.

"There were some off-the-field issues that were unfortunate for such a special talent that in 2008 when he got kicked off we were all surprised," said former LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee.

"This is the best quarterback to come out of Louisiana since Peyton and Eli and he's playing Arena Football," said football analyst Mike Detillier. "That's a pretty far drop."

The special report will air Tuesday at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
