SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police are seeking suspects in a Christmas Eve caper that they believe was orchestrated by a family in order to steal from the safe of a local business.

On Friday, police released surveillance video that they say shows a large Hispanic family arrive at the Plantation Inn in the 4900 block of Greenwood Rd. just after noon on December 14, 2013. In the video, the family can be seen approaching the clerk's counter.

According to witnesses, some of the family members asked to see rooms, diverting the clerk's attention from the counter area.

While the desk is left unattended, police say one of the females climbs over the desk and disappears off camera presumably entering a locked room behind the front desk where the a safe is located. An undisclosed amount of money was taken, along with the business owner's passport and other documents.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $400.00 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of any of the subjects responsible for this crime. Contact Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or www.lockemup.org

A deadly virus is threatening the crawfish industry in Southwest Louisiana. It's called white spot syndrome virus and it was first discovered in Thailand, but somehow it made its way to ponds in South Louisiana and specialists are struggling to find the funds to research a solution.  “The catch was increasing and increasing and then it dropped 70% and that's when you saw the dead crawfish floating in the water,” said a crawfish farmer of 34 years, Ian Garbarino.
