IONIA, MI (WOOD/CNN) – A nearly 24-hour search for an escaped prison inmate from Michigan has ended in his capture.
Michigan State Police Sgt. Todd Peterson says convicted killer Michael David Elliot was captured in Laporte County, IN.
Elliot's escape was discovered around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.
Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Russell L. Marlan says Elliot apparently pulled back the bottoms of two fences and crawled underneath to escape.
Elliot was convicted of killing four people in 1994, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections records.
He's currently serving five life sentences.
