Bossier Parish School Board to consider raises for employees
BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -
Bossier Parish School leaders are considering pay raises for their employees for the 2014 school year.
The Bossier Parish School Board's Finance Committee met Thursday afternoon at the school board building in Benton to brainstorm ways to raise teacher salaries.
"Employees haven't had a pay raise in 8 years," said school spokesman Sonja Bailes.
The raise would come from existing millages and not from new taxes, according to Bailes. Although the details aren't hammered out, Bailes said the raise will likely be gradual increases over the next few years.
Finance Committee Chair Barbara Rudd tells KSLA News 12, the committee would be considering different options to give the employees pay raises, but nothing would be official until the board votes on the issue.
The school board will consider the raises at their meeting at the central office on February 6.
