NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's deputies have arrested a woman after she brought a loaded shotgun to a north Natchitoches Parish School Wednesday morning.

Deputies say around 8:20 a.m., they received a call from a concerned citizen reporting that a female may have been en route to the Fairview Alpha Elementary School Campus, north of Campti. The concerned citizen also told deputies the woman had recently threatened bodily harm to a family member, and believed she was heading to the school campus to take her child from the school.

Deputies alerted a NPSO school resource officer assigned to the school and staff members of the possible situation.

Deputies say around 8:40 a.m., the school resource officer made contact with the woman as she arrived at the school. The officer says he called for backup after noticing the woman's behavior was unusual. Deputies say while talking to the woman, identified as 30-year-old Aftan Loe Creighton, she appeared upset and agitated.  Deputies also say that Creighton responded to them saying that she "had a shotgun in her truck and she would take care of anyone if they attempted to interfere with her getting her child."

Deputies detained Creighton and searched her vehicle. They found a loaded Remington 12-gauge pump shotgun and a box containing 13 shot shells in a toolbox. Creighton was arrested and taken to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. She's charged with terrorizing. Deputies say additional charges are pending.

Investigators say they believe this incident stemmed from a recent marriage separation.

No one was injured in this incident.
