Winter weather: Natchitoches Parish offices to reopen Wednesday

Natchitoches Parish President Rick Nowlin has announced that Parish offices will be open for business on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

Nowlin declared a State of Emergency Tuesday morning due to the extreme winter weather, after the National Weather Service issued a hard freeze warning for the Parish.

Even though much of the moisture on parish roads has been removed by the afternoon sun and wind, Nowlin says citizens are encouraged to exercise caution Wednesday morning when driving.

Parish employees are encouraged to continue to pay attention to local media for weather updates Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.  In the event conditions should warrant any changes in parish opening plans, notice will be given through the local media.

In the event the Natchitoches Parish school system would close parish schools, the Natchitoches Parish Head Start classes would also close.  If this happens, only Head Start administrative staff would report to work.  Teachers, teacher assistants, lunchroom workers and any other staff who provide direct services to the children would not be required to report to work.  In case of any questions, employees should contact the Head Start Director.
