TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

What normally would have been a misdeanor theft charge has been upgraded for a Texarkana man, who is now wanted on a felony warrant in connection with the theft of a purse from a vehicle.

Texarkana, Texas police say the charge was upgraded to a felony in light of "prior contacts with police" by 28-year-old Travalyn Aldridge.  Police did not elaborate on the nature of those prior contacts.

Police say the warrant is the result of an investigation into a theft report which was called in to the Texarkana, Texas Police Department earlier in the month.  It is believed that Aldridge removed a purse from a vehicle which constitutes burglary of a vehicle.

Aldridge is described a black male, 5'10" and 160 lbs.  He has black hair and brown eyes.  He is possibly driving a tan, 90's model Ford Crown Victoria.

If anyone has information about the whereabouts of Aldridge, they are encouraged to call Detective Geoff Lewis at 903-798-3170 or Texarkana Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
