Police gave chase until the reportedly stolen commercial van stopped on 63rd St. under the I49 overpass, where 5 suspects jumped out and took off on foot.
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
4 men are in custody and another is on the run, after a police chase early Thursday morning that ended under I-49 in Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood.
It all started around 1:30 a.m. with an attempted traffic stop at Hearne Ave. and Lakeshore Dr. in Queensborough. That's where officers spotted a commercial van matching the description of one that had been reported to be related to the theft of a 1987 Cadillac Deville from the Shreveport Job Corps Center less than 2 blocks away.
When the van didn't stop, police gave chase until they got to 63rd St. under the interstate overpass, where 5 suspects jumped out and took off on foot.
4 were rounded up with the help of Shreveport K9 units. 2 of the suspects suffered dog bites, and a third also reportedly also required medical attention. Some of those in custody are said to be juveniles.
One of the K9s also suffered minor injuries.
The fifth suspect sought by police is believed to be armed.
