Another dog stolen from a Texarkana animal shelter last week has been recovered and returned.
6 dogs in all were taken during a break-in at the shelter on Monday, January 15. More than 1,000 pounds of dog food and a load of drugs used to vaccinate animals were also snatched from the shelter.
2 local teens ended up turning themselves in in connection with the burglary, but police have not ruled out more arrests.
3 of the dogs were rounded up over the weekend. The fourth was recognized by a passerby on Tuesday, who contacted animal control officers. The dog had apparently been hit by a car at some point after it was stolen, but it was not seriously injured.
Police believe the other 2 dogs are still wandering loose in the downtown Texarkana area.
