CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - A $2,500 cash reward is now being offered to the person who helps investigators arrest and convict the man who robbed the Hampton Pharmacy last month.

It happened as employees were about to close the Carter County business on December 16th.

Witnesses said he demanded specific medication and ran out of the store.

"Witnesses put him leaving the scene on foot and crossing the river there into a neighborhood community," said Lt. Tim Horne, Carter County Sheriff's Office.  "We had a pretty rapid response time given the rural location but all efforts like K-9 tracker and grid searches left us empty handed."

Video surveillance shows the man pointing a gun at the heads of store employees.   "Clearly this person represents a danger to the community," said Horne.

The robber didn't ask for money.  He specifically asked for prescription medication.   Lt. Horne said the drugs could have been resold or used by the robber himself.   "There is a noticeable trend that we are starting to see of more pharmacy robberies where money is not the object.  It's the drugs. "

RX Patrol, a division of Perdue Pharmaceutical, is offering the $2,500 reward to the person who calls in the critical tip that leads to an arrest and conviction.
