SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A local man is now behind bars following his arrest Wednesday morning by Shreveport police in connection with a shooting that injured 2 men during an alleged drug deal.

18-year-old Demarcy Armstrong was arrested on a warrant at his home in the 400 block of Mayfair Dr. in Shreveport just after 8:30 Wednesday morning. He is charged with 2 counts of attempted first degree murder.

Police believe Armstrong was involved in the sale or purchase of illegal narcotics in the Cherokee Park subdivision back on December 30 when a dispute arose between him and the two men he allegedly ended up shooting.

The victims, identified as Gregory Jones-Fields and John W. Taylor, were later spotted speeding in their SUV by an officer in the 2200 block of Bossier City. Officers also noted several bullet holes in the SUV.

They were taken to University Health Shreveport for treatment of their wounds and have since recovered from their injuries.

Armstrong has been booked into the Shreveport City Jail, with bond set at $130,000.
