Man arrested for robbing 2 businesses, starting fire at school

PITTSBURG, TX (KLTV) -
A 45-year-old Arizona man wanted for his involvement in three incidents led East Texas authorities on a manhunt Tuesday night.
According to the Pittsburg Police Department, officers were called to two armed robberies at businesses on Highway 271 around 9:40 p.m. Both robberies occurred within minutes of each other. Just seconds later, fire units were dispatched to a fire at Pittsburg Intermediate School only blocks away. All three incidents turned out to be connected.
Eyewitnesses reported that a white male had displayed a handgun in both of the robberies and then fled on foot.
Police and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter searched for the man for over two hours before he was taken into custody. Steven Marlin Schade was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of arson. He will be arraigned on formal charges Wednesday. He also has an outstanding arrest warrant from Utah.
No one was injured during the robberies or the fire. Crews managed to save the portable building that caught fire at Pittsburg Intermediate School.
The Camp County Sheriff's Department, and the Camp County Constable's Office aided in the search.
Pittsburg is located in Camp County 16 miles north of Gilmer.
