LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Royal Court of five woman who will represent the Kentucky Derby Festival was unveiled Monday morning at Macy's in Oxmoor Center.

Four of five women selected hail from the Derby City including University of Louisville junior Morgan Cooksey, Centre College senior Julia Springate, University of Kentucky senior Eriauna Stratton and University of Kentucky junior Grace Wainwright.

UofL senior Grace Trimble, of Winchester, Kentucky is the fifth woman in the court.

The five women will act as ambassadors for the Derby Festival and attend nearly 70 events over a three week period.

Cooksey said, "Growing up in the city of Louisville, I always saw the princesses and queens of the Derby Festival and the Pegasus Parade and it's always been a dream of mine to stand up here and fulfilling that dream has been very rewarding."

Two alternates, Janna Imel, of Greenup, Kentucky and Lori Johnson, of Louisville, were also chosen.

One of the princesses will be crowned the Derby Festival Queen by a spin-of-the-wheel at the annual Fillies Derby Ball on April 11 at the Galt House Hotel.

Each woman will receive a $2,000 scholarship.
