2 people killed in mobile home fire in Keithville

An early morning mobile home fire claimed 2 lives in Keithville.

It happened just before 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning at 11804 Sparks-Davis Road.

Firefighters responded to the scene and reported seeing heavy smoke and flames coming from the single-wide mobile home.

After dousing the flames, firefighters entered the mobile home and found the remains of two people.  The victims were identified as Henry Patton, Jr., 36, and Tina Lavergne, 47.  The bodies were discovered in two separate bedrooms.  Both appear to have been sleeping at the time of the blaze.

The State Fire Marshal's office was called in to investigate the fire.  Investigators say the fire appears to have originated in the living room at or near a sofa.  The fire quickly spread and damaged all but a very small area.

The bodies of the victims were released to the Caddo Parish Coroner for autopsy.

There was no evidence that the mobile home had working smoke alarms.
