Lady Techsters fall in C-USA opener; Perry with double-double
RUSTON, LA (KSLA/Louisiana Tech Sports Information) -
Lulu Perry scored 17 points to go along with 17 rebounds, but the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters fell to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 67-56, on Wednesday night in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Louisiana Tech (5-9, 0-1 C-USA) opened the second half with a 10-4 run to tie the game at 31. Southern Miss (12-2, 0-1) immediately responded with a 9-2 run that gave the Golden Eagles a seven point edge. Louisiana Tech used a quick 6-0 run to get within four with two minutes remaining, but the Golden Eagles free throw shooting secured the victory.
Whitney Frazier was the only other Lady Techster to score in double digits as she added 11 points. The 17 rebounds for Perry was a career high.
Southern Miss was led by Jamierra Faulkner, who scored a game high 21 points. Also scoring in double digits for the Golden Eagles was Brittanny Dinkins, who added 19 points.
Louisiana Tech's next action comes Saturday when the Lady Techsters take on Middle Tennessee in a 5 p.m. contest in the Thomas Assembly Center.

The Parkway Panthers football team lost 35 seniors last year, and one of them was Brandon Harris, who is now the LSU quarterback. But the team had an historic season, making it to the state championship game, and did it all playing on the road throughout the entire playoffs.
