A tractor-trailer rig lost a 40,000 pound load of scrap metal Tuesday morning in South Shreveport.
According to officers on the scene, the container was not secured properly when it slid off the flatbed as the rig was making a left-hand turn from Mansfield Rd. to Jewella Avenue just before 9 a.m.
The container hit a curb, and some of the scrap metal inside fell out into the grass along the side of the road. No other vehicles were involved and no one was hurt.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development was called in to investigate and citations are expected.
