LSUS' Santiago named RRAC Player of the Week

Byroneshia Santiago of LSU Shreveport earned a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for Dec. 30-Jan. 5. This is the ninth award of the 2013-14 season and her second time to claim the honors.

Santiago, a junior forward Ruston, La., posted averages of 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Lady Pilots. She scored 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a 75-65 victory over Faulkner University (Ala.) then notched 13 points and 11 boards as LSUS fell to the University of Mobile (Ala.), 66-54. Santiago was 13-of-22 from the field for the week (59.1%). The Lady Pilots are currently 2-0 in the RRAC and 6-5 on the season.
