A DeSoto parish woman was arrested in Natchitoches Parish in connection with a theft investigation.

The probe started on November 11th when Natchitoches deputies were called to a reported theft in the 100 block of Tom Prudhomme Road.

During the course of their investigation, deputies learned that the complainant met a woman through a social media site.  He agreed to pick up the female at an undisclosed location in Natchitoches and bring her back to his home on the evening of November 10th.

At some point early on the morning of November 11th, the complainant woke up to find the woman gone, along with his 2000 Cadillac Deville, 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, Hewlett Packard desktop computer, a Hewlett Packard laptop computer, Iphone 3, Xbox, and approximately 300 DVDs stolen from the residence.

The complainant provided deputies with a possible name for the suspect.

Natchitoches investigators entered both vehicles in the National Crime Information Center as being stolen.  On November 26th, the Houston, Texas Police Department recovered the 2000 Cadillac Devile abandoned near a motel on Alameda Road.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 20-year-old Jamie Alberta Howard.  She has ties to Houston, Pelican, Converse and the Mansfield, Louisiana areas.

After establishing probable cause, deputies were able to obtain criminal arrest warrants.  Investigators from Natchitoches, Sabine and DeSoto parishes spent the next month searching for Howard.

Just before Christmas, investigators received a tip that Howard was possibly hiding in the Converse area in Sabine Parish.  She was arrested December 24th.

She was transported to the Sabine Parish Detention Center, booked and released to Natchitoches Parish.

Howard, of the 200 block of Jefferson Street, Pelican, Louisiana, was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.  She is charged with 1 count of felony theft over $1,500 and 2 counts of felony theft of motor vehicles.

Howard, who remains in jail, has admitted to her involvement in the theft.  The only item recovered has been the Cadillac Deville.

Investigators believe that more than one person took part in the theft.
