Haughton volunteer firefighter killed in motorcycle wreck

HAUGHTON, LA (KSLA) -

A Haughton volunteer firefighter has died following a motorcycle wreck Wednesday afternoon in Bossier Parish.

According to Louisiana State Police, it happened just after 1 p.m.. on Winnifield Road one mile east of Bellevue Rd.

Police say Dotson, 30, was driving his 2001 Honda motorcycle he was east on Bellevue Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed both lanes and traveled through a ditch before striking a concrete culvert. He was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries.

Dotson was wearing a DOTD approved helmet. State Police Trooper Brett Davis says the investigation is ongoing, and toxicology samples were taken and will be sent off for testing.

Dotson was a volunteer firefighter of 10 years for Bossier Parish Fire District #1.
