Two more arrests have been made in connection with a child abuse case at a Texarkana, Texas daycare.
Chametra Robinson, 40 and Felicia Duckett, 37, both of Texarkana, Arkansas, surrendered to authorities after learning about the outstanding arrest warrants. Both women were charged with injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled-Criminal negligence.
It is not believed that Robinson and Duckett actually took part in the physical assault of the 4-year-old victim, but it is widely speculated that they did nothing to prevent or report the incident, investigators said.
Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled-Criminal negligence is a state felony and punishable by up to 2 years in jail and a fine of no more than $10,000.
Bond was reduced from $100,000 for each to $20,000 by a magistrate Tuesday morning after placing additional conditions on both women.
Robinson and Duckett remain in custody at the Bi-State Justice jail.
The Texarkana, Texas Police Department was notified about the incident after the child's mother noticed bruises on his forehead. She took him to the hospital to be checked out.
Officers arrested Virginia Smith of Texarkana, Texas last week after an investigation revealed that the 4-year-old, while under Smith's care at Opportunities Inc., received several blows to the head and body with what police believe was a shoe.
Smith was released from jail on December 27 after posting bond.
