SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
One man has been arrested in connection with a pair of armed robberies on Sunday, but police are still trying to identify a second suspect.
Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 8100 block of Pines Road just after 10:30 p.m., after getting a call that someone had been robbed there. The victim told police that he was just arriving home from work and getting out of his car when he was confronted by two men whose faces were covered. One of them reportedly had a handgun. The victim says the men took his cell phone and the keys to his car, a 2001 Honda Accord sedan, and took off in it.
The victim was not injured.
Patrol officers tracked the car down around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning, finding it idling in the driveway of a home in the 900 block of Whispering Lake Dr. in north Shreveport. They watched for several minutes until 2 men came out of the home and headed for the car. That's when police say they took them into custody.
They were taken in for questioning. One of them was released after investigators determined he had no involvement in the crime, but 22-year-old Christopher Dumas was arrested.
Detectives later gathered information that indicated Dumas was connected to a another armed robbery on the same day in the 4900 block of Jewella Ave. There, a convenience store clerk was robbed at gun point by two suspects fitting similar physical descriptions of the suspects described in the previous robbery.
Police arrested and charged Dumas with two counts of armed robbery for his alleged role in the incidents. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
