BOWIE CO., TX (KSLA) -

Scattered skeletal remains found near Sulphur River Bridge on Sunday afternoon do not appear to match the description of any local missing people, according to Bowie County Sheriff James Prince.

The bones, believed to be human, were discovered underneath the Hwy 59 overpass, near where the Sulphur River feeds into Lake Wright Patman shortly before noon Sunday by a Bowie County Sheriff Search and Rescue Team.

The team of about 30 people had been out searching the land in the area for 63-year-old Elizabeth Ramsey, who has been missing since December 17. But the possibility that they are the remains of the missing woman was quickly ruled out, because of the advanced stage of decomposition.

Crews have been searching for Ramsey in the area of the Lake Wright Patman Spillway because her was found there on the morning of December 20. That was three days after she was last seen at her home in the 4700 block of Moores Lane in Texarkana, Texas.

Ramsey is reportedly depressed, suicidal and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Neal says the search for her continues both on land and in the water.  The search for her continues.

According to Sheriff Prince, the remains don't belong to any other  missing people from the area, either. "We don't have anybody who this person matches [with] somebody who went missing from Bowie County. We have no idea where this person may be missing from and it looks like it may be traveling from across the country, we're not sure."

Prince says some items were found in the area of the remains that suggest this person may have been living beneath or at least seeking shelter under the overpass. "It appears that this person may be a transient. We found some belongings that look like he is. But there's nothing in that would identify who this person actually is."

The remains will be sent to a forensics lab in Dallas for identification, and Prince says his office will send a message out across the country for anyone with missing persons that might fit the description.
