Sources: HUMMER H3 to be Produced in Shreveport; Governor Blanco to Attend October 27th Announcement

General Motors will produce its new Hummer H3 at its Shreveport plant, two highly placed sources tell NEWS 12.   GM will make the official announcement October 27th, sources say.   That is the same day the vehicle is set to make its worldwide debut at the California International Auto Show in Anaheim, according to the show's internet website.

Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco, who toured the Shreveport GM plant Thursday, has agreed to return to the plant on October 27th.   Blanco staffers confirmed the trip is on the governor's schedule but would not confirm the nature of the October 27th visit.    A General Motors spokeswoman would only say "a major economic announcement" would be made at the Shreveport facility that day.

The Hummer H3, due in dealerships early next year, is expected to have the same chassis as the Chevy Colorado, which is already produced at GM's Shreveport plant.
