TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

Texarkana, TX police have arrested 3 men in connection with a shooting Thursday that left 2 men injured.

Officers were called to a home in the 200 block of W. 16th on Thursday night for a report of a shooting, but found no one there. Minutes later, they learned that someone had shown up at the hospital with a gunshot wound, and another with "assault-type" injuries.

Soon after, another man met up with officers at the Bi-State Justice Center to speak with officers about the incident.

Investigators were able to piece together what allegedly happened at the home. They say it all started when 48-year-old Jerry Houff showed up uninvited at the home of his former mother-in-law and attempted to speak to his ex-wife. Police say he was armed with a .38 caliber pistol.

When he entered without permission, officers say he was confronted by 45-year-old Vincent Edmond, who disarmed him.

The two continued to struggle while exiting the residence. Once outside, Edmond gave the pistol to Houff's son, 22-year-old Jeremy Heard. Police say Heard them attempted to intervene by firing a single shot from the pistol in the direction of Edmond. Edmond was not struck by the bullet, but he then allegedly pulled out a handgun of his own - a 9 mm pistol - and shot at Heard.

Heard was struck twice in the upper body.

That's when Houff and Heard left the scene, heading to the local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Edmond later met with officers at the Bi-State Justice Center to speak with investigators.

As a result of the incident, Jerry Houff has been charged with burglary of a habitation, with a bond of $50,000. Jeremy Heard has been charged with deadly conduct, with a bond of $50,000. Vincent Edmond has been charged with aggravated assault, with a bond of $50,000. All three subjects were booked into jail at the Bi-State Justice Center. No other arrests are expected.
