Man wanted for questioning in bank robberies arrested

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man was arrested Tuesday night on an outstanding warrant for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Charles "Chuckie" Johnson, 26, was arrested by FBI agents, members of Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Dept.'s SWAT and SCMPD's Central Precinct's Tactical Investigations Unit. A federal arrest warrant was obtained for Johnson's arrest on Aug. 15.

Johnson is wanted for questioning in connection with seven armed bank robberies at these locations: Savannah Bank on Chatham Parkway; Wells Fargo on Abercorn Street; Savannah Postal Credit Union on Oglethorpe Professional Boulevard; Heritage Bank on Stephenson Avenue; First Chatham Bank on Stephenson Avenue; First Chatham Bank on Hodgson Memorial Drive and United Community Bank on East Victory Drive.

He is scheduled to appear before a U.S. magistrate judge on Tuesday in Savannah.
