PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) -

The southbound lanes of Hwy 21 in Port Wentworth have reopened to traffic after two trucks collided Wednesday morning sending one person to the hospital.

Port Wentworth Police and Port Wentworth Fire responded to the wreck shortly before 8 a.m. on Hwy 21 south near the intersection of Burnt Oak Road headed toward I-95. A dump truck rear-ended another dump truck, sending one person to the hospital with minor injuries.

Both of the southbound lanes on Hwy 21 were closed for close to two hours in order for crews to get the trucks towed out and to clean-up the oil that leaked onto the roadway. After over an hour, police started letting southbound traffic go around the wreck slowly on the shoulder.

The road completely reopened to traffic around 10 a.m., however, travel is reportedly still-slow going in the area.
