CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

The driver who struck a Caddo sheriff's patrol car and injured a deputy on Sunday has been cited for careless operation.

Jody Hollis, 39, of Bossier City, was issued the citation on Tuesday at the conclusion of a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office investigation. Authorities say Hollis "has been extremely cooperative during the investigation."

Sheriff's Cpl. Mark McLaughlin was injured when the patrol car he was sitting in was hit from behind by Hollis' eastbound Yukon. McLaughlin's vehicle was stopped on the inside shoulder of I-220 while assisting a motorist.

Hollis reportedly told deputies that she had reached down for her purse when she hit the patrol car.

McLaughlin was treated at University Health and was released from the hospital yesterday.
