MARSHALL, TX (KSLA) -

A man accused of killing an East Texas toddler is awaiting his return to the ArkLaTex. That's after authorities tracked him down in Mexico Monday.

Two-year-old Yeli Madalyn Jimenez was brought to the emergency room of Good Shepherd Hospital in Marshall by her mother, Felipa Dominguez on February 12, 2012. Dominguez says she found Yeli lying unconscious on the floor next to her bed at their home on Liberty Church Road in Marshall.

Medical staff at GSMH pronounced the child deceased after attempting to revive her. An autopsy was performed and the results indicated that the child had died from massive blunt force trauma.

A warrant for Jose Luis Casiano-Aburto's arrest was issued the day after Yeli's death. That's when investigators found out he had fled to Mexico. Harrison County deputies say Casiano-Aburto allegedly beat the child before she died. " Investigation with the mother and the other family members indicated that the mother's boyfriend allegedly struck the child in the abdomen and caused the death of the child," says Harrison County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jay Webb.

Deputies say Casiano-Aburto was captured in Mexico on Monday and will be handed over to U.S. Marshals. From there, he'll be returned to Harrison County within a few days where he will be held pending trial. Casiano-Aburto's original bond was set at $1 million but that may change due to his fleeing to Mexico.
