Appleby leads Tech past NSU

RUSTON, LA (KSLA/Louisiana Tech Sports Information) -

Raheem Appleby scored 28 points as Louisiana Tech (8-2, 0-0 C-USA) defeated Northwestern State (3-5, 0-0 SLC), 93-71, Wednesday night in the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston.

 

Louisiana Tech stormed out of the gate led by Appleby, leading by as much as 14 in the first half. Appleby scored 20 points in the first half, as the Bulldog defense forced 14 first half turnovers. The Bulldogs extended their lead in the second half led by Alex Hamilton who scored 11 points in the second half. The Bulldogs dominated inside, scoring 58 points in the paint.

 

LA Tech had three other players score in double digits to go along with Appleby's 28 points. Alex Hamilton provided 13 points, while Kenneth Smith scored 12 points and Kenyon McNeail added 10 points. Smith also recorded a double-double as he had 12 assists on the night.

 

Northwestern State was led by Jalan West who scored 28 points. DeQuan Hicks scored 19 points and Zikiteran Woodley added 10 points in the loss.

 

LA Tech's next action comes Saturday, Dec. 14 when the Bulldogs travel to Oklahoma City to take on the No. 7 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in a 1 p.m. tipoff televised by ESPNU.
