A two-story home was heavily damaged in a house fire in Texarkana, Texas Monday night.
Firefighters say they got the call around 10:30 p.m. to a home in the 4100 block of Texas Boulevard. When firefighters arrived, they battled flames that were shooting from the second story of the home. Firefighters say a passer-by spotted the fire and called 911.
Frank Gillette was also passing by and made the drastic decision to go into the burning home to see if anyone was trapped inside. "The house was on fire up top and there was a couple cars pulled over. Everybody was staring out looking at it. And I just thought it was somebody in there. So, I kicked the door in and went in there like anyone else would do I hope for my family," says Gillette.
Fortunately, no one was inside the home at the time. Fire officials say the owner of the home was out of town. The home was apparently for sale.
No injuries were reported, but the home was heavily damaged. Investigators are working to figure out how the fire started.
