Ringing and ringing and still ringing for world record

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - That ringing in his ears just won't stop!

Andre Thompson, the East Texas man out to beat the world record for The Salvation Army bell ringing is still jingling that bell. The world record is 80 hours. Andre has been ringing his bell for 32 hours as of 7p.m. and is still going.

Nice weather today made the conditions optimal, but despite a cold front coming in, he says he plans to keep pushing through.

"First of all God, second of all all my family and friends, that are basically just circling around me and just and pulling me together and the bible says iron sharpens iron, I'm having all my brothers and sisters just pull into me and encourage me and just help me push forward, " Andre Thompson said.

He is holding down the competition for all of Texas. As of right now the original six competitors have dwindled down to just three competitors across the country. One remains in Minnesota, one in California, and Andre Thompson in East Texas.

There are volunteers out monitoring his every move, making sure that bell never stops ringing. He's got snacks and support and hopes you'll stop by to donate.

Andre is at the Walgreens located in Tyler at the intersection of South Broadway and Rieck Road if you would like to stop by and donate or just cheer him on.
