CASS COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -

It was an Amber Alert that prompted the 911 call that led to the arrest on Sunday of a man accused of killing his wife and leaving the scene with their 4-year-old daughter.

35-year-old Brandon Dunn of Longview is now in police custody, held on $5.1 million bond and charged with the murder of Kari Dunn.

Joanne Morris of Atlanta, TX is credited with helping bring Dunn in, calling 911 just minutes after receiving the Amber Alert on her cell phone that included a description of the suspect's vehicle. She was on US Hwy 59 at the time.

"A lady called and said she was behind the vehicle and she gave me the license plate," recalls Cass County sheriff's dispatcher Della Stephens.

"It was kind of a scary feeling, you know, because I had no idea the extent of why they were looking for them or anything," Morris says. Morris says she followed the vehicle for a short time, while staying on the phone with dispatchers.

"She said it was going southbound," recalls Stephens, "and I had two troopers southbound on the freeway."

Troopers spotted the vehicle at the rest area between Atlanta and Linden on Highway 59. After a 6-mile chase, DPS and county pa troll officers were able to pull the vehicle over and rescue the child. Dunn was arrested, and on Tuesday, he was transferred from the Cass County Jail to Marshall, where he is charged with murder and evading arrest.

Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe credits Morris' quick action in response to the Amber Alert for capturing Dunn as quickly as they did.

"It is a good feeling a good feeling to know that you helped," says Morris.
