CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Authorities have identified the man killed Tuesday morning in a head-on collision in northern Caddo Parish.

Caddo Parish Deputies say it happened around 6:45 a.m. on LA Hwy. 1 at Trees City Road near Vivian, about a quarter-mile south of LA Hwy. 2, when a southbound 2001 Mercury Marquis and a northbound 2007 Chevy Trailblazer collided. The Mercury continued in motion and was then impacted by a northbound 1999 Ford F-150, according to Cpl. Michael Vaitkus.

The driver of the Chevy, 39-year-old Keshia Claiborne-Ashley of Shreveport, and the driver of the Ford, 30-year-old Mark Ross of Mooringsport, were both taken to Willis-Knighton Bossier for treatment of their injuries.

The passenger in the Mercury died at the scene. He has been identified as David Gates, 19, of Queen City, Texas. The driver of the Mercury, 19-year-old Kendall Clay Griffin, also of Queen City, was transported to University Health.

Crash investigators say weather may have been a factor, but they are still working to determine the exact cause of the accident.
